Wendy Halliday has had an almost faultless season this year winning numerous events, not forgetting to mention the amount of second and third place finishes she’s racked up! One of the highlights of her season was winning the Maskery Cup shooting a fantastic Nett 64, her closest competitor was 7 shots behind her at Nett 71 making it a storming victory! This was such a fantastic achievement the result and an article actually got published in the Dorset Echo!
This isn’t the whole story, this was actually Wendy’s first competitive season playing with The Dorset Golf & Country Club Ladies section only starting golf around a Year and a Half ago! Wendy started the season off of a 35 Handicap, currently she has achieved and is maintaining a solid 24 Handicap. After her latest cut that is a reduction of 11 shots this season alone!
Wendy has been working with me practically from the start and has developed well in the last year. I think that Wendy must be the person I see the most up the club, she is dedicated, hard-working and very determined. Wendy doesn’t give up on anything and often refuses to leave her practice until she is able to achieve exactly what I’ve asked her to do every time! This is the attitude that has allowed her to make such huge leaps forward with her golfing standard!
With winter beginning to start properly we have discussed and are about to implement a structured practice regime. This regime is designed to take her game to the next level and with her attitude I know it will! Next season looks to be a repeat of this year with Wendy’s progress showing no signs of slowing down, I cant wait to see what happens!
